On Tuesday, April 17th, the Columbus Chamber of Commerce is holding two “Young Professional CafĂ©” Events, where attendees will be able to converse with Rebecca Ryan of Next Generation Consulting, who is doing a study on the “Brain Drain” issue in Columbus.
For anyone not able to attend these events in person, a “Blogspot” event is being held simultaneously, so that contributions can be made remotely via the Internet. This web-based forum will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
The purpose of these events is to prepare the final information to be delivered on Wednesday, April 18th at the State of the Young Professionals address at Mershon Auditorium.
This is a great opportunity to voice your opinions if you happen to be a young (under 40) professional, and the ability to use web-based technologies for this gathering of ideas is a great way to reach out to this younger, tech-savvy demographic on a local level.

Is this Logan’s Run or something? Why the under 40 thing. Old fogies actually do still know how to read and learn stuff.
Did anyone else go to the big presentation at Mershon on Wednesday evening? What were your thoughts and reactions? Does anyone know of any good blogger reactions to this subject?
I was very skeptical of the event (which, apparently, makes me a typical YP). It seemed as if, after all the studies and interviews conducted by Next Generation Consulting, the only recommendations that Rebecca Ryan’s team could come up with was a public relations video contest, a YP networking website, and more downtown development. Whoop-de-do. Ryan came across as more of a motivational speaker, similar to Suze Orman. Frankly, I found it condescending.
